Bill Kristol

With a press pass, you can get into the sports bar where Fox News is broadcasting from. No questions asked. Amanda and I ate lunch on Fox News, enjoying salad, biscuits, chicken, and cookies all free. We were two of the only women down in the Fox News bar -- and definitely the only non-leggy blondes!

Along with all the Fox stars we saw (see above), we noticed the Vets for Freedom guy sitting and eating. We decided we should try to interview him, asking about McCain's position on the draft and how McCain's foreign policy would differ from Bush's. When we finally worked up the courage to go over there, we saw he was eating with Bill Kristol! After a lot of hemming and hawing, we decided to approach. I opened by saying hello and introducing ourselves. "We don't want to bother you, but we'd love to ask you a few qeustions if you had just a minute or two." By this time, Kristol was already cutting us off. "No, no we don't have time. WE're really not interested." Did he know who we were? Or was he always just an asshole?

AT that moment, Steve Doocy swept in to introduce his incredibly douchey son Peter to the Vets for Freedom people (apparently he and Bill are already good friends). VFF guys were much nicer, and once Amanda said she was from the same hometown, he agreed to talk to us later. Hopefully that will happen.

Also, the convention floor is gorgeous. And incredibly exciting.
People I have been within 10 feet of today (in no particular order):
Bill Hemmer
Bill Kristol
Chris Wallace
Byron York
Vets for Freedom dudes
Shep Smith
Sen. Ken Salazar
AFL-CIO President John Sweeney
Steve Doocy
Peter Doocy
Anderson Cooper
Jason Jones (!!)
Paul Krugman

Also: Bill Kristol is not just an asshole on TV!

Welcome

I've decided to start a personal blog to tell friends and family about my experiences at the Democratic National Convention in Denver next week. After blogging for a year at TP, I imagine having a forum to express more personal (and partisan, let's be honest) views will be somewhat of a relief.
